With over 3000 affiliated
centers across the country and around the world, requests for assistance from the Washington Office arrive in a steady stream, often urgent in nature.
The desecration or threatened closure of a synagogue or Jewish day school, or the dedication of a new one, protocol and other advice for visits or meetings with heads of state or government, navigation of visa and organizational registration or other bureaucratic mazes, preparation of conferences and events abroad, or even strategic advice on sensitive diplomatic matters - these are some of the developments that require appropriate attention and experience, as their impact is crucial to community well-being everywhere.
The Washington Office constantly provides assistance and support in these areas. Chabad-Lubavitch emissaries and delegations are regularly hosted and assisted on their visits to the nation's capital, where the Washington Office facilitates meetings with Members of Congress, senior government officials, diplomats and world leaders.
The Washington Office is also a key liaison point not only between
Chabad-Lubavitch and other major Jewish organizations, but also national and international non-governmental organizations (NGOs).
To date, the Washington Office has assisted with, organized and participated in meetings with Heads of State and Government in and from almost 50 countries, and will continue to serve both the national and international Jewish community in this capacity. |
